Got an Emergency? Relax, we have got it covered
As veterinary practitioners we are all presented with emergency patients at one time or another and this can be more or less daunting – but it doesn’t have to be! In this course we will look at the core principles on which emergency medicine depends while also discussing some specific emergency problems in greater depth. The emphasis will be on providing practical information that you can use straightaway in your practice.
What you’ll learn:
- How to assess your emergency patients including major body systems, pain, secondary survey, use of ultrasound and emergency database
- Cardiovascular assessment, shock and your approach to treatment
- Thoracic trauma including respiratory system assessment
- Traumatic brain injury including central nervous system assessment
- Tomcat urethral obstruction (Blocked cats) – what to do
- Gastric dilation-volvulus syndrome (GDV) – don’t panic!
- Poisoning: general approach and some common ones you’re likely to see
